Karhu, meaning bear in Finnish, were established in 1916 and are widely known as Finland’s official equipment provider for the Olympic games. The company originally manufactured camouflage uniforms, army boots, rucksacks, platoon tents and skis for the Finnish army. By 1960, they registered their famous running shoes M-symbol, which derived from the word ‘Mestari’, meaning champion’ in Finnish.
